Madly short film full
Post intermission, the narrative suddenly has a lot to unpack and it rushes to reveal all that led to lovers’ separation.
Up to the interval point, Tadap’s narrative makes itself look like a typical love story of a poor boy’s romance with a rich girl, who appears to have been forcefully married off to another mister of her father’s choice. The film is the remake of the 2018 Telugu film, RX 100, which was based on a real incident. The first few seconds into Milan Luthria’s Tadap, and one knows the purpose of the film: to highlight debutant Ahan Shetty’s prowess as an angry action hero who is fuelled by his passion for his ladylove, played by Tara Sutaria. While trying to present them in the finest possible way, it’s also crucial that the actor in question is provided enough scope to display his or her wares. REVIEW: Launching a newcomer is quite an arduous task for any filmmaker. While it might appear like a rich-girl-poor-boy love story, as the film unfolds, there's more to it than that. STORY: Mussoorie lad Ishana (Ahan Shetty) falls in love with a local politician’s London-educated daughter Ramisa (Tara Sutaria). Whether Tadap would go on to achieve that remains to be seen… Like the bike, the film too has acquired a cult status among the mass audience. The discontinued bike is a collector’s item among petrolheads. It was great for doing wheelies but had a high accident rate as well. You rode it for the thrill and the danger. RX100 was named for an iconic motorcycle brand known for the insane bursts of speed it could achieve despite its lesser horsepower. Their histrionics is buoyed by good supporting performances by Kumud Mishra and Saurabh Shukla. Kudos to her for taking this kind of a risk early in her career. She starts off as the innocent girl next door and then turns into something else as the film progresses. He’s at ease in front of the camera overall and makes a confident debut.
The fight sequences, especially towards the end are raw and visceral. Like his father, he has a good screen presence and a chiseled physique, which is utlised well in the film. The film marks the debut of Suniel Shetty’s son Ahan Shetty. Since the film is set in Mussoorie, we were expecting the cinematography to explore its rustic charm but strangely, that aspect is missing. Tere siva jag mein, is the film’s anthem and whose riffs are used in the background score as well. Pritam proves equal to the task and has given us songs which have a ’90s touch to it. Music played a large part in making RX100 a hit. The proceedings look too hurried, too sudden. In RX100, the attraction of the heroine towards the hero is shown in stages, whose naivete balances her boldness. Female sexuality is still not shown so openly in our films. This inversion of popular tropes works in the film’s flavour. While he’s shown as being the more romantic of the duo and thinks about settling down with his beloved. It’s she who takes the lead in consummating the relationship. It’s the heroine who falls in lust with the hero. RX100 and it’s remake, Tadap, turned it around and made it about the female gaze. Our films are almost always about the male gaze. The shocking truth gets revealed when Ramisa comes back from London after three years, but it’s too late by then. Ishana becomes self-destructive as a result and is always in trouble with the police.
Later, it’s shown that she’s been married off to someone else. Ishana, falls madly in love with her and becomes obsessed with Ramisa. Their relationship becomes intensely physical. She comes back during vacations and sparks fly between them. Nautiyal has a daughter named Ramisa (Tara Sutaria), who has been studying in London.

Ishana (Ahan Shetty) is an orphan brought up lovingly by Daddy (Saurabh Shukla), who owns a movie theatre and is the best buddy of the local MLA Nautiyal (Kumud Mishra). A major portion of the film was shot in Mussoorie. The original was set in rural Andhra Pradesh and director Milan Luthria has set it in the lush vales of Uttrakhand. It also became known for its risque scenes. The film deviated from the usual tropes shown in a romantic film and offered a devious twist to the plot. Tadap is almost a frame to frame remake of the Telugu hit RX100.
